From your file to the wall, no surprises
Here is exactly what happens between your order and your letters on the wall.
You configure
A few clicks: your text or logo, the material, thickness and fixing. You see the result and the price live — no need to wait for a quote to decide.
We check your file
A graphic designer checks that the cutting file is production-ready. Want a proof before we start? It is free — make the most of it.
We cut in our workshop
Your letters are cut for you, to your dimensions, in our workshop in the French Alps. Nothing is outsourced.
You mount them straight
Delivery to your office, home or a pickup point. The optional full-size template gives you perfect alignment and spacing on the first try.
Craftsmanship since 1990
Every product is machined, assembled and packed by our own team, in our workshop in the heart of the mountains — nothing is outsourced.

Everything is customisable
Every project is unique. Material, colour, font, shape, thickness, finish — everything combines freely in the configurator, and the result shows on screen, at the right size, before you confirm.
A more specific need — a multicolour logo, a gradient, a precise shade or a mounting constraint? A graphic designer studies your project and answers you, quote included.

A fixing for every surface
Every surface has its fixing. You pick the one that fits — we advise you if needed — and we mount it on the back of each piece.

What is the difference between acrylic, plexiglass and Perspex® letters?
There is no real difference. Acrylic, plexiglass and Perspex® all describe the same rigid, glossy plastic. Perspex® is a brand name widely used as a generic term in the UK, while plexiglass is common elsewhere. Our acrylic letters come in three versions, all cut as solid pieces to your design:
- Printed plexiglass, in the colour of your choice
- Transparent plexiglass
- Mirror plexiglass
Acrylic or PVC letters: which should I choose?
The simple rule is to choose acrylic for a glossy, clear or mirror finish, and PVC for thick, matt and light letters.
- Acrylic: 3, 5 or 8 mm, with printed colours, transparent or mirror effects.
- Expanded PVC (often called Foamex): up to 19 mm for a chunky block look.
- Thin PVC: available in 38 colours.
You can design both in our online editor.
Can acrylic letters be used outdoors?
Yes. Printed and Transparent plexiglass are suitable indoors and outdoors, but Mirror plexiglass is for indoor use only. Outside, fix your letters with Ultra Adhesive, which also holds on render and brick, or with snap-on spacers. On a façade facing heavy exposure, aluminium letters are often the better choice. Some exterior signs may need planning permission, so check with your local authority before installing.
How thick are your acrylic letters?
Printed and clear plexiglass come in 3, 5 or 8 mm. Transparent green and blue are 3 mm, and Mirror plexiglass is 3 mm. Choose the thickness to suit the letter height. 3 mm works well for small door or counter lettering, while 5 to 8 mm gives presence on a reception wall or shop front. For an even chunkier look, expanded PVC reaches 19 mm.
What colours do acrylic letters come in?
Almost any colour you want. Printed plexiglass comes in the colour of your choice, from black, white or red to your exact brand colour. The colour is printed rather than painted, which keeps it precise and consistent. You can also choose:
- Transparent plexiglass: clear, green or blue.
- Mirror plexiglass: silver, gold or rose gold, for indoor use.
How do you fix acrylic letters to a wall?
You can choose the fixing that suits your surface:
- Ultra Adhesive: double-sided foam with no drilling, for indoor and outdoor use.
- Magnetic: repositionable on a steel surface, for pieces of at least 20 × 20 mm.
- Snap-on spacers: letters float about 1.5 cm off the wall, and drilling is required.
A paper mounting template comes with spacers and is available as an option with the other fixings.
Can I get clear acrylic letters without the adhesive showing?
Yes. Adhesive can show through clear acrylic, so we recommend snap-on spacers for transparent letters. The fixings come pre-mounted on the back and hold each letter about 1.5 cm off the wall, which creates a floating effect with a soft shadow. Female sockets, screws and a paper drilling template are supplied for accurate placement. On a steel surface, magnetic fixing is another discreet option.
How big can acrylic letters be?
Acrylic letters start at 7 cm high and go up to 4,000 × 2,400 mm per piece. The only exception is transparent green and blue plexiglass, which is limited to 600 × 600 mm. Magnetic and spacer fixings need each piece to be at least 20 × 20 mm. Capital and lowercase heights vary by font, so check the live editor preview. For large formats, an SVG file gives the cleanest result.
Can you cut my logo in acrylic, and what file do I need?
Yes. You can upload your logo as jpg, png, pdf, ppt, eps, svg or doc, and no vector file is required. We cut around the silhouette, and a multicolour logo can be produced in one piece in Printed plexiglass. Once your order is confirmed, you receive a proof by email to approve before production. For large formats, we recommend an SVG file for the cleanest cut.
How much do acrylic letters cost?
Acrylic letters follow tiered pricing by size. The final price depends on surface area, material, thickness and fixing. It updates live in our online editor as you design, so you never need to request a quote. The same tiered pricing applies to larger projects and wholesale orders, so you always know where you stand before ordering.
Otypo's acrylic letters are individual letters, words, numbers or shapes cut from acrylic (plexiglass, often called Perspex®) to your design: Printed plexiglass in the colour of your choice, Transparent plexiglass (clear, green or blue) or Mirror plexiglass (silver, gold, rose gold), 3, 5 or 8 mm thick. Printed and clear acrylic go indoors and outdoors; mirror stays indoors. Any size from 7 cm to 4 m. Fix them with Ultra Adhesive, magnets on a steel surface, or snap-on spacers about 1.5 cm off the wall, with a paper mounting template. Made and dispatched within one working day, with tiered pricing by size.
Acrylic Letters Cut to Your Design
An acrylic cut letter is a solid piece cut flat from an acrylic sheet. It is not a sticker and not a hollow box letter. You can order a single word, a business name, a quote, house numbers or a shape, all as custom acrylic letters cut to size. Acrylic is a rigid, glossy plastic, so "acrylic plastic letters" and "plexiglass letters" describe the same thing as Perspex letters.
The "3D" in 3D acrylic letters or 3D Perspex® letters comes from two things: the thickness of the sheet, with 8 mm giving the boldest effect in plexiglass, and the shadow created when letters sit on spacers. For a chunkier block look, expanded PVC goes up to 19 mm and our wooden letters for walls come in 18 to 19 mm.
You design your acrylic lettering in our online editor and see a live preview before you order, with no quote to request. Choose from the editor’s fonts, including script and handwritten styles such as Pacifico, Great Vibes or Dancing Script. You cannot upload a font, but you can upload a file with your text converted to outlines in an SVG.
Looking for acrylic letters near me, in the UK, or wondering where to buy acrylic letters online? Every order is cut in our own workshop and made and shipped within 24 working hours; delivery options and costs appear at checkout. For wholesale acrylic letters, the same tiered pricing by size applies. Acrylic is one of many materials in our range of cut-out letters and shapes, where you can compare all materials side by side.
Laser Cut and Flat Cut Acrylic Letters
"Flat cut" is the sign trade term for letters cut from a sheet rather than built up. Our acrylic letters are cut by laser or CNC router, depending on the sheet, with a bevelled edge possible for added relief. The result is crisp outlines on every acrylic flat cut letter.
Letters can be joined or separate depending on your design. Script fonts often connect into a single piece, while block fonts give individual letters; the editor preview shows exactly how your custom laser cut acrylic letters will be cut. For flat cut lettering in other materials, see our flat cut letters.
Rather than claim to sell the best laser cut acrylic letters, we focus on what makes a good one: a thickness suited to the letter height, a clean file, and a fixing matched to the surface. As for the price of laser cut acrylic letters, it is tiered by size and shows live in the editor.
Printed, Clear or Mirror: Choosing Your Acrylic
The editor offers three acrylics. Here is how they compare:
- Printed plexiglass: 3, 5 or 8 mm; colour of your choice (printed); indoor and outdoor; best for coloured brand lettering, receptions and shop fronts; fixings: Ultra Adhesive, magnetic, snap-on spacers.
- Transparent plexiglass: 3, 5 or 8 mm in clear, 3 mm in green or blue (green and blue max 600 × 600 mm); indoor and outdoor; best for glass-like, minimal lettering; fixings: snap-on spacers recommended, magnetic.
- Mirror plexiglass: 3 mm; silver, gold or rose gold mirror; indoor only; best for décor, salons and boutiques; fixings: Ultra Adhesive, magnetic, snap-on spacers.
Minimum height is 7 cm and maximum size 4,000 × 2,400 mm, except transparent green and blue.
Black acrylic letters, white acrylic letters, red acrylic letters or your exact brand colour all come from Printed plexiglass. If you searched for painted acrylic letters, note that the colour is printed, not painted, which keeps it precise and consistent. For a thick, solid black block, Black expanded PVC 19 mm is the better match.
Clear acrylic letters give a subtle, glass-like look, ideal on coloured walls; if you need a full clear panel instead, browse our transparent acrylic signs. Mirror plexiglass suits interiors only; for more gold décor see gold and mirror wall letters or solid brass letters.
Small and Large Acrylic Letters: from 7 cm to 4 m
Small acrylic letters start at 7 cm high, and large acrylic letters or large perspex letters go up to 4,000 × 2,400 mm per piece. The only exception is transparent green and blue, limited to 600 × 600 mm. Magnetic and spacer fixings also need each piece to be at least 20 × 20 mm.
Match thickness to height: 3 mm works well for small door or counter lettering, while 5 to 8 mm gives presence on a reception wall or shop front. Capital and lowercase heights vary by font, so check the editor preview for the real layout. For large formats, an SVG file gives the cleanest result.
Acrylic Letters for Walls and Interiors
Acrylic letters for walls bring a polished finish to a living room word, a hair salon name, a reception quote or an office feature wall. Decorative acrylic letters on snap-on spacers seem to float, which makes 3D acrylic letters for wall displays stand out. Every piece is made to measure, never an off-the-shelf A to Z.
For a child's name, explore our name signs; for a company emblem, a 3D wall logo is the natural choice.
Acrylic Sign Letters for Shop Fronts, Receptions and Offices
Acrylic letters for signs are raised letters fixed directly to a façade, shop window, reception wall or an existing sign board or fascia. When people search for 3D acrylic signs, 3D acrylic signage or a 3D acrylic letter sign board, they usually mean these relief letters, not a printed panel. If you want the panel itself, our acrylic signs cover that need.
From our experience with sign makers, acrylic signage letters work best in Printed plexiglass for brand colours, flat cut and raised on spacers. Printed and transparent acrylic are suitable outdoors; on a heavily exposed façade, aluminium letters are often preferable. For a full exterior project, see letters for outside signs, or compare sign letters in every material. You can also browse our work for inspiration.
Raised acrylic letters on spacers
Snap-on spacers hold each letter about 1.5 cm off the wall, casting a soft shadow. The fixings come pre-mounted on the back, with female sockets, screws and a paper drilling template supplied for accurate placement.
Acrylic or PVC Letters?
Looking for thicker, matt or lighter letters? Expanded PVC, the material often called Foamex, goes up to 19 mm, and thin PVC comes in 38 colours. See our PVC letters. The simple rule: glossy, clear or mirror means acrylic; thick, matt and light means PVC.
Can Acrylic Letters Go Outside?
Yes for Printed and Transparent plexiglass, which are suitable indoors and outdoors. Mirror plexiglass stays indoors. For outdoor fitting, use Ultra Adhesive, which also holds on render and brick, or snap-on spacers. On a façade facing heavy exposure, aluminium is often the better choice. Some exterior signs may require planning permission, so check with your local authority before installing.
How to Fix Acrylic Letters: Adhesive, Magnetic or Spacers
Up to four fixing options are available, depending on the acrylic:
- Ultra Adhesive: double-sided foam, no drilling, indoor and outdoor, holds on render and brick. It can show through clear acrylic.
- Magnetic: for pieces of at least 20 × 20 mm, repositionable, on a steel surface such as a metal door or partition. Test with a fridge magnet first.
- Snap-on spacers: about 1.5 cm from the wall, pieces of at least 20 × 20 mm, drilling required, template included. The cleanest option for clear letters.
- No fixing: thick 8 mm letters simply stood on a shelf or mantelpiece.
A paper mounting template is included with spacers and available as an option with the other fixings.
Your Logo or Artwork in Acrylic: Files and Proof
