Family & Surname Signs

A family name sign works well on a living-room wall, in a hallway, above a console table or outside under a porch. Cut-out letters let you go genuinely large, up to 4 m in solid wood. For outdoor use, choose Okoumé, which is suitable indoors and outdoors. Premium Douglas fir works under shelter.

Wood or Acrylic? Choosing the Material for Your Name

Here are six of our 25 materials that suit name signs best. All our wood is natural wood only: each piece keeps the colour of its species and is never painted. If you want colour, choose printed or mirror acrylic.

Spacers and magnetic fixings require pieces of at least 20 × 20 mm. A paper mounting template is included with spacers.

Sizes and Styles: Large, Round, 3D or with Flowers

Names can be cut from 7 cm high up to 4,000 × 2,400 mm, or 2,000 × 1,200 mm in plywood. That leaves plenty of room for a large wooden name sign that fills a wall. As a rule of thumb, the wider the wall and the further away people will view it, the taller the letters should be.

For a 3D wooden name sign, choose 18 to 19 mm solid wood mounted on spacers. The depth and shadow give the letters real presence on the wall. For a round wooden name sign, a circle design or a sign with flowers, import a drawing (such as a name with a circle, stars or clouds) and we cut it to its silhouette as one piece. Alternatively, order the shapes as separate pieces.

How to Hang a Name Sign on the Wall

The editor offers four fixing options:

• Ultra Adhesive: a high-performance double-sided foam, no drilling needed, even on render or brick, indoors and outdoors.
• Snap-on hidden spacers: hold the sign about 1.5 cm off the wall. They come pre-fitted on the back and are screwed to the wall, with a drilling template. Drilling is required.
• No fixing: thick 18–19 mm letters stand freely on a shelf or piece of furniture.
• Magnetic: works on steel surfaces only, never directly on a wall. Repositionable and handy for temporary use, for example on a steel door.

The paper mounting template reproduces the exact alignment and spacing of your letters. It comes with spacers and is optional with other fixings, but it is essential when your name is made of separate letters.
